Program: Sing Praises

The selection of sacred choral works for this programme has been, in part, dictated by an invitation to participate in the Geelong Festival of Sacred Music in May. So the programme consists of pieces which are familiar and loved by singers and audiences alike. The composers straddle the ages from Byrd to Jenkins and include Handel, Fauré, and Britten. The tone of the works ranges from a tender setting by John Tavener of Blake’s poem, The Lamb, to the surging glories of Vaughan Williams’ Let all the world in every corner sing, and Haydn’s The heavens are telling the glory of God from The Creation.

Colloboration with North East Orchestra

The collaboration between the NEO String Ensemble and Vocal Dimension is working exceptionally well. They appreciate the opportunity to explore the choral repertoire as they work with the choir and arrange the string parts to enhance the voices. And the singers love the feeling of support and encouragement that comes from the strings. Audiences appreciate the combination of voices and strings and have grown accordingly.
Our three concerts in 2016 were a great success with all tickets sold out. Patrons will remember that we can only offer 70 seats due to constraints related to the size of the gallery spaces. This enables us to provide a unique concert experience for the audience and musicians in which chamber music can be heard in an intimate setting as was originally intended. The gallery spaces with their stunning views of Lake Benalla and the extensive art collection on display further enhance our enjoyment. Friends of the Gallery will continue to provide drinks and light refreshments after the performances. Patrons will continue to be able to buy tickets on line at TryBooking.com or at the gallery counter. Programs details will be provided closer to each concert
